The court in The Hague sentenced 34-year-old Faristha S. to seven years in prison over the death of her 10-month-old son. It found that she had caused him serious brain damage through violent force at a home in Voorschoten on 14 April 2023; he died in hospital several weeks later.

The reports differ on whether the conviction was for manslaughter or murder. S. denies the allegation.
