Niels van Roij rebuilds cars for wealthy customers in Uden
◆1 source
Niels van Roij is described as rebuilding cars completely by hand at his company in Uden, according to the wishes of customers who are entrepreneurs from around the world. The work can involve replacing the engine, body panels, interior and drivetrain; in one example, an old Volvo from California is being fitted with a turbocharged engine producing 350 horsepower. In most cases, only the chassis remains.
Van Roij combines traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques, including scanning and 3D printing, while beginning each design with a hand-drawn sketch. He studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and later specialized in London, and previously designed cars for Volvo and Ford. The prices are not disclosed, although the work is described as costing a great deal of money.
