Motorists in central Rijen were directed to an incorrectly named destination, “Telburg,” on yellow diversion signs during sewage works in the Constance Gerlingsstraat. The Stationsstraat was closed, requiring traffic to turn around or follow the detour. Gilze en Rijen municipal official Jeroen Leemans confirmed that the destination should have been Tilburg and said the contractor responsible for the signs had been contacted and expected to correct the error quickly.

Leemans said the mistake had already been noticed during the annual market in Rijen. He described it as human error. A previous misspelling on a road sign in Rijen, which referred to Gilze as “Glize,” involved a provincial project and not the same contractor.
