Local entrepreneurs buy holiday park in Valkenswaard

Entrepreneurs Patrick Coppens from Reusel and Arjan Willems from Valkenswaard have bought Bruges Heide holiday park in Valkenswaard through their real estate company AP Valkenswaard. Coppens confirmed that the purchase price was over €3.1 million; the park is due to be transferred this week and will be renamed Valkenrijk. The site includes 123 chalets, 95 camping pitches, a recreation building, an outdoor pool, two staff houses and a car park.

The new owners plan to modernise the park, including by adding and refurbishing chalets, updating the catering facilities and replacing paving. They want to open the campsite next year, although not all work will be complete. They must first apply for new permits, and the municipality of Valkenswaard has said the park’s recreational designation leaves no room for the long-term accommodation of asylum seekers or migrant workers.

The former City Camping Den Driesch in Valkenburg, owned by Peter Gillis, was sold to Molecaten. The site is to remain a campsite and is scheduled to reopen in spring 2027. Gillis still has holiday parks in Baarlo, Heel and Herkenbosch. They were described as abandoned, neglected and closed, with little activity visible there.
