The Karbonkel puppet from the 1990s educational television series Ik Mik Loreland was restored and is to be displayed from Saturday at the Beeld & Geluid museum in Hilversum. The puppet had been kept in the institute's depot for years before being cleaned and restored. Karbonkel was the one-eyed antagonist in the series, which aimed to teach children to read by having them recover letters he had stolen. A puppeteer involved said visitors who had found the character frightening can now see that the puppet is not as scary in person.
