Jesper de Jong’s heel and Achilles surgery

Dutch tennis player Jesper de Jong is due to undergo surgery on his heel and Achilles tendon in November after persistent pain. One report said that examinations found a bone protrusion interfering with his Achilles tendon, which had a vertical tear; it also said his symptoms had worsened since August.

The reports differ on when the 26-year-old can return: two said April 2027 at the earliest, while the latest report put his earliest return at May 2027. That report also said he can use a protected ranking from April for a limited number of tournaments.
