Davidovich was reported to be the first Spaniard to win the Shanghai tournament, which was first held in 2009; Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal had previously failed to win it. Maja Chwalinska won the women’s WTA 1000 tournament in Wuhan, beating Britain’s Sonay Kartal 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
