Crypto entrepreneur Jean-Louis van der Velde entered the latest Quote 500 at number one, with his wealth estimated at €26 billion. The 62-year-old displaced Charlène de Carvalho-Heineken, who had led the list for years; reports put his estimated wealth at about twice hers. His Dutch nationality was confirmed after uncertainty over whether he was still Dutch, making him eligible for the ranking. The combined wealth of the 500 people on the list rose by more than 10% to more than €300 billion, a record level. A single report also identified AI developer Pim de Witte as the list’s youngest billionaire, following the growth of his company General Intuition.
