TalentNED skating training programme to end

5 sources

TalentNED, the Enschede-based skating talent programme founded by Gerard Kemkers, will cease after the 2026/27 skating season, ending nine years of operation. The programme initially operated as a professional team and has focused on talent development since 2020, with athletes living, training and studying at the TalentNED Academy in Enschede. TalentNED said it no longer sees a sound basis for continuing because cooperation with the wider Dutch skating world, including structural cooperation with the KNSB, did not materialise. It said it had experienced not only limited support but also opposition. The KNSB regrets the programme's departure. TalentNED was intended to develop young skaters before they moved on to larger commercial teams.
