Increase in millionaire households in the Netherlands

Preliminary CBS figures showed that the number of Dutch households with assets of at least €1 million increased by 81,000 between 1 January 2024 and 1 January 2025. Reports differed on the resulting total: most put it at 547,000 households, while two put it at more than 574,000. One of those reports described the rise as more than 23%.

Millionaire households were reported to be concentrated particularly in Noord-Holland and Utrecht, while Groningen, Flevoland, Limburg and Fryslân had the fewest. In Fryslân, Schiermonnikoog and Terschelling were reported to have the largest shares of millionaire households, at 13.4% and 12.4% respectively. Rising house prices were cited as the main reason for the growth in wealth.
