Gary Hekman, 38, ended his career as a marathon skater a year and a half ago. After initially distancing himself from the ice, he moved into coaching with De Haan Westerhoff and was still involved on the track during the team’s final ice training before the new marathon season began at Amsterdam’s Jaap Edenbaan.
