The European Court of Human Rights is said to have asked questions about the detention conditions of Ridouan Taghi, who has reportedly been held in complete isolation at the ECI in Vught for almost seven years. Taghi has lodged 21 complaints about his detention, prompting questions to the Ministry of Justice.

Khalid H., known as Imo, was targeted in an apparent shooting attack in Utrecht's Overvecht district on Wednesday afternoon. He was not injured. Reports described H. as a figure in the Marengo trial and said he had previously survived two attempted killings, including one in January 2017 in which another person was shot instead. One report said Ridouan Taghi had commissioned earlier attempts on his life.

Gerel Palm, a 42-year-old Dutch criminal who was described as one of the most important hitmen in the Mocro mafia, reportedly escaped from a prison in Rio de Janeiro on 25 September. He had been held in Brazil for more than five years and was serving a 20-year Dutch sentence for an attempted double murder in Noordeloos in 2016. He had previously escaped from prison in Suriname. The escape was reportedly carried out with the help of a Brazilian drug cartel, which was said to be trying to prevent Palm’s extradition to the Netherlands. His current whereabouts were not stated.
