More employees work after AOW age
◆3 sources
In the second quarter of 2026, 1.7 percent of Dutch employees were older than the AOW age, up from 1.2 percent in the first quarter of 2018. Men were more likely than women to work beyond that age, at 2.3 percent of male employees compared with 1.1 percent of female employees.
The share was highest in real-estate rental and trade, at 4.3 percent, followed by transport and storage at 3.6 percent. It was lowest in public administration and public services, at 0.6 percent; employment in government often ends automatically when workers reach AOW age.
