Errors in tourist and advertising tax documents

Alderman Hendrik Jan Biemond apologized to the city council after outdated versions of regulations were used in documents on changes to the tourist tax, daily tourist tax and advertising tax. The errors included an incomplete definition of the advertising-tax base and placement of the tax period under the wrong article. Biemond described the issues as largely technical but said the regulations need correction to ensure lawful taxation.

The problems were identified after shortcomings were found in an October amendment concerning precario tax, prompting checks of other tax regulations. The council’s vote, originally planned for 11 or 12 November, was postponed to 9 and 10 December. A committee is due to discuss the documents on 2 December.
