Koen Schuiling appeals indecency conviction to Supreme Court

19 sources

Former Groningen mayor Koen Schuiling has lodged an appeal in cassation with the Supreme Court against his conviction for offending public decency. The Court of Appeal in Zwolle upheld a €250 fine after finding that he masturbated while driving on the A7 between Hoogezand and Groningen in March 2024. Schuiling has consistently denied the allegation, saying he had abdominal pain, had loosened his clothing and was rubbing his abdomen. His lawyers announced the cassation appeal in a podcast; the conviction therefore remains under challenge.
