Amsterdam court upholds Booking.com office attendance requirement

The Amsterdam court ruled that Booking.com may require employees to work from the office for at least 40 percent of their working time, equivalent to two days a week for a five-day schedule. The ruling concerned a dispute with the company’s works council over its remote-working policy.

The court accepted Booking.com’s argument that regular in-person contact supports workplace culture, cooperation, training and employee development. A single report said the requirement will take effect after a six-month transition period and that individual exceptions may be possible for employees facing difficulties under the policy.
