Aafke Zoer, 74, and her husband moved to a nursing home located in the garden of their youngest daughter and son-in-law, three years after he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Zoer described the arrangement as a gift from heaven and said the illness was harder on those around him than on him.
