YouTube channel for homeless people’s stories in Amsterdam

Amsterdam aid workers Denice Kampinga and Jovanka de Boer started the YouTube channel Let Them Speak in their spare time, filming conversations with people experiencing homelessness. They said they wanted homeless people to describe their own lives and views on possible solutions, rather than being discussed mainly at policy level.
The pair conduct the interviews independently of their employer and do not identify the organisation where they work. At the Nieuwmarkt, they interviewed Jean-Claude, 37, who has been living on the streets for about seven years. They said the channel aims to present people in homelessness as individuals and reduce stigma.
