Turkish-German director Ilker Çatak’s film Yellow Letters portrays the Turkish state turning against a couple of artists and a marriage coming under strain amid political repression. Çatak moved the story to Europe as a warning about the pressure placed on artists. The film won the Golden Bear. Çatak said that almost everyone was for sale and that idealism was also a luxury.
