Waterland’s municipal council has decided to abolish the dog tax. Dog owners in the municipality will no longer have to pay it from 1 January 2027. The change is also intended to make more money available for measures addressing parking nuisance and heavy traffic.

The tax had faced calls for abolition from council members for years, but there had previously been no majority to end it.
