The Association of Water Builders (VvW) said that sound choices had been made on water safety. It said the cabinet letter showed that the renovation of the lock complex at IJmuiden would continue and that sufficient attention was being paid to the high-water protection programme and coastal maintenance.

The association said these measures were vital for the Netherlands.
