The House of Representatives was due to vote on an amendment requiring websites carrying sex advertisements to apply stricter checks. The amendment, proposed by JA21 and the ChristenUnie, would require platforms to verify the identity and age of people offering sexual services through their sites, with the aim of preventing minors from appearing in advertisements. The Centre against Child Trafficking and Human Trafficking (CKM) said this was still happening and referred to research from 2023 showing that 80% of minor victims identified in the investigation had been offered through such websites. Minister of Justice and Security David van Weel said he did not disagree with the amendment’s intent but advised the House to reject it.
