Vitesse defeated VVV-Venlo 2–0 on Wednesday evening in the first round of the KNVB Cup and advanced to the second round. Naoufal Bannis was outstanding in the match, which Vitesse won without too much difficulty.

The match was also described as a special evening for Eduard Probst, whose long wait was rewarded. Vitesse’s previous cup campaign had ended in an unpredictable series of results since the club’s historic cup win in 2017.
