Meat processor Vion plans to sell its pig slaughterhouse in Apeldoorn and close the site once the property at Laan van Malkenschoten is sold. The company expects this could happen before the end of the year. Vion said it intends to place employees at other company locations in the Netherlands, including Boxtel. It cited a declining pig population, resulting in fewer animals requiring slaughter and excess capacity.
