Villa of Evoluon designer Louis Kalff put up for sale

The villa in Waalre where Louis Kalff lived for many years was offered for sale for €1.85 million. Kalff, who designed the Evoluon in Eindhoven, also designed the house in 1959. A renovation about ten years ago reportedly retained distinctive features including extensive woodwork, a natural-stone floor and the staircase, while Japanese influences remain visible in the villa and its garden.

Kalff worked for Philips from 1925, designing advertising materials, the Evoluon and the Stereological Observatory in Eindhoven’s Stadswandelpark. He remained an adviser and architect to Philips after retiring in 1960 and lived in the Waalre villa until his death in 1976.
