American tennis player Venus Williams suffered her 16th consecutive singles defeat at the Guangzhou Open on Tuesday, losing in straight sets to 18-year-old Austrian Lilli Tagger, 6–2, 6–2. Tagger, ranked 53rd in the world, will face Poland’s Magda Linette in the next round.

Williams is 46 years old.
