Unused North Holland wool sent to landfill

◆1 source

Tens of thousands of kilos of wool from sheep farmers in North Holland are reportedly sent to landfill each year. Marijke Dirkson, a sheep farmer in Burgerbrug, said much of the wool could instead be used for products such as sweaters and socks, or as material for stables, fields and vegetable gardens. Dirkson has dozens of bales of wool at her sheep shed, sorted into dirty and usable wool. She said the limited processing of North Holland wool was mainly linked to its cost, and that farmers had lost sight of the value of their own wool.
