Around 50 families in Zeeland educate their children at home rather than sending them to school, with lessons taking place in settings including at the kitchen table and outdoors. One report put the number of affected children at about 100.

Their position is under pressure after the Supreme Court in April limited home education based on objections of principle, and the cabinet wants to further restrict home education. The families and their children remain uncertain about what this will mean for them.
