Uncertainty over future locations for Camperduin beach pavilions

The future location of the Prince George pavilion and the Hookipa Beach surf club in Camperduin remains uncertain, according to the account. Strong coastal currents are causing sand to disappear, and the access road to Prince George could be washed away during severe storms. Hookipa Beach had previously left its beach location because conditions were considered unsafe. Neither business has a permanent alternative location yet, and an application for a site on Hargen beach was rejected, according to Prince George owner Harm Jansen.
D66 provincial representative Lauren Berkvens has asked the North Holland provincial government what role it can play in helping the entrepreneurs find new locations, including whether it can coordinate the process. The municipality of Bergen is conducting a study of alternative sites with Rijkswaterstaat, the water board and the province. D66 also asked whether recreation and nature are being sufficiently considered alongside coastal safety. The provincial government is expected to answer the questions within 30 days; the entrepreneurs are to bear the relocation costs, according to D66.
