Uncertain relocation for Camperduin beach pavilions
◆2 sources
Beach pavilion Prince George in Camperduin still has no new location as the storm season begins. According to a single report, erosion and storms have repeatedly damaged the access road, while sand had already accumulated beneath the pavilion. The municipality of Bergen said the requested site at Hargen aan Zee is leased for beach cabins and asked the owners to withdraw or temporarily suspend their application pending clarity on other sites. The municipality has decided to investigate alternative beach locations with the businesses and other authorities; the owners said they had not yet received official notice and did not wish to comment while the response deadline remained open until the end of October.
The same report said surf club Hookipa Beach had left its Camperduin site because of an unsafe foundation and was temporarily using the adjacent lagoon, which it must leave before the end of the month. It has no permanent replacement site, and its owner said the uncertainty prevents investment and affects income. The municipality is continuing its search for locations for both businesses.
