Two cars collided in Almere on Sunday afternoon, with one of them then hitting a pole. Two people were injured and firefighters freed them by cutting open the roof of a car before taking them to hospital. Several emergency services attended, and the cause of the collision is still under investigation. The Grote Vaartweg was closed near the junction with the Gordingweg.

An earlier account placed the crash near the Karperweg and said the road was closed from the Markerdreef toward Almere Buiten; a later update gave the location as the Grote Vaartweg and the time as around 4:40 p.m.
