Two house fires broke out in Amsterdam-Zuidoost. A resident was taken to hospital with burns and smoke inhalation after a fire started in his room on Veenendaalstraat at about 10.30am. The building was evacuated, but other residents have since been allowed back. The fire was extinguished and its cause remains unknown.
A second fire started in a home on Luthuliplein at about 11.30am. One room was completely destroyed, and one person was checked for smoke inhalation but did not need hospital treatment. Residents were evacuated as a precaution and have returned; the affected home is uninhabitable because of fire and extinguishing-water damage.
