Rafael Camara and Gabriel Bortoleto are set to become the first two Brazilian drivers to start a Formula 1 race in the same weekend in ten years, at the Brazilian Grand Prix in São Paulo. Camara is making his debut for Haas as a replacement for Esteban Ocon and is expected to take the seat permanently next season. Bortoleto is driving his second Formula 1 season for Audi and is currently 14th in the drivers’ championship.
Camara, who is 21, and the 22-year-old Bortoleto are being presented as hopes for Brazil, whose last Formula 1 race winner was Rubens Barrichello in 2009. Bortoleto is using a helmet design inspired by Ayrton Senna, while both drivers have spoken about the pressure and expectations surrounding their home race. A points finish would already be a significant achievement for them this weekend.
