The Dutch cabinet wants the Netherlands to become a European leader in medical technology. Twente is set to play a leading role through the Hospital of the Future project, led in part by Remke Burie, director of the TechMed Centre at the University of Twente.

Burie said patients involved in the project should not be regarded as guinea pigs, but should receive the latest available care.
