Turquoise electric taxis expand in Amsterdam

Nearly 500 turquoise electric taxis associated with Vietnamese businessman Phöm Nhūt Vūng have been registered in Amsterdam since September, according to the account. Amsterdam is the second European city where the taxis operate, after Copenhagen. Professor Erik Verhoef of VU Amsterdam said their colour stands out, while their presence fits the growth of taxi providers and the cities’ sustainable transport ambitions.

Drivers can choose permanent employment, a condition several drivers welcomed. Fares are currently very low, but Verhoef said they are expected to rise as the company focuses on service quality and working conditions.
