Trial with new joints delays decision on Grave city-centre paving

The municipality of Land van Cuijk is testing new joints in a 145-square-metre section of the Trompetterstraat in Grave’s historic centre. Fine gravel attached to the existing natural stones with epoxy resin is intended to keep the pavement flexible while reducing movement of the stones and making the street easier to pass. The municipality wants to assess how the solution performs in different weather conditions and under traffic over two winters.

Small repairs have already been carried out elsewhere, including work on uneven surfaces and loose tiles and natural stones. The municipality says the paving outside the test section meets current quality and safety standards, so it sees no immediate need for a larger intervention. The historic centre has about 2,100 square metres of natural-stone paving. The costs and available budget for any broader improvement have not yet been determined. The municipal council is scheduled to consider the test results and possible next steps in the second quarter of 2028.
