Residents of Hyacinthstraat in Maassluis said they had repeatedly warned the municipality about the condition of the trees after a large tree fell on four parked cars, causing major damage. They described the incident as dangerous and said they were angry and worried that no action had been taken earlier.

The municipality inspected the trees in the street and concluded that they were in too poor a condition to remain standing. Other trees were cut down on Friday afternoon, after the tree had fallen the previous weekend.
