Jordy Verkiel’s number 13 was declared protected by Tilburg Trappers after he reached 750 games for the club. The announcement was made before the home game against Herforder EV on Friday, which Tilburg won 9–2. The club said no other player would wear number 13.

By 2 November, Verkiel had played 752 games for Tilburg Trappers. He has worn number 13 for almost his entire hockey career and described the decision as a great honor. He was also reported to be on course to reach 954 appearances for the club.
