Café ’t Uilennest in Tilburg was due to close permanently on 26 October after the municipality moved to revoke its licence. The operators, Atilla and Gemma, appealed the decision with the help of their lawyer and sought to keep the café open while the court considers the case. The closing date has now been delayed to 5 November, although a final closure still threatens. The date of the court hearing is not yet known.
The dispute began after police were informed in January 2025 that former members of the banned Satudarah motorcycle club were holding club nights at the café. Police investigated and raided the premises, and several legal proceedings followed. The mayor later withdrew the café’s licence after advice from the National Bureau for Bibob, but a court previously disagreed, allowing the café to remain open. The operators have proposed tighter permit conditions, restrictions on certain visitors, regular visits by a community police officer and camera surveillance.
