Thousands of fines issued to fare evaders on the Zwolle-Emmen rail line remain invalid after having been declared invalid earlier this year. Asylum Minister Bart van den Brink said the outcome was undesirable but that he cannot change it because the fines were issued unlawfully.

Twenty-one additional Dutch municipalities were placed under the supervision of Asylum Minister Bart van den Brink because they were not providing sufficient reception places for asylum seekers. This brought the total number of municipalities under supervision to 63, or more than 18 percent of all Dutch municipalities. Four of the newly supervised municipalities are in North Holland: Dunkerland, Enkhuizen, Koggenland and Stede Broec. A single report said they must show how they will comply with the Spreidingswet; if they do not, the government can take over the decision on establishing an asylum reception centre.
