FC Twente midfielder Thomas van den Belt reacted to the death of former teammate Jesús de Miguel. De Miguel reportedly died on Tuesday after a hard collision with Andorra’s goalkeeper. Van den Belt had played with him at CD Castellón.

FC Twente beat Excelsior 9-0 away in the Eredivisie, its largest league victory in club history. Excelsior played almost the entire match with ten men after Nesto Groen was sent off in the sixth minute. Wout Weghorst scored four times and Sondre Ørjasæter provided five assists. Daan Rots scored twice, while Thomas van den Belt, Jordy Bawuah and Ramiz Zerrouki also scored. The result left FC Twente fourth on 23 points after 11 matches, level on points with third-placed PSV.
