Volunteers from VESDO football club reportedly made their final paper-collection round in Schagerbrug after 60 years of collecting waste paper there. The municipality is set to install paper containers. Usually four volunteers took part, but twice as many joined the final round, which was marked by a village celebration. Residents reportedly put out flags and left gifts beside the paper piles, including beer, chocolate letters, sweets and homemade cookies. Volunteer coordinator Rikwin van Zanten said the group would miss its monthly collection and the drink that followed.
