A court ended the TBS treatment order imposed on Shelly van der P., who was convicted over the death of her eight-month-old daughter Yara in 2020 after administering GHB to her. She had received a three-year prison sentence and TBS in 2022.

The court found no grounds to extend the measure. Her lawyer, the prosecutor and a psychiatrist had advised against an extension, although the prosecutor expressed reservations because Van der P. had used drugs in the past year and was in a volatile relationship. The court and psychiatrist assessed the risk of reoffending as low, with the court saying it would arise only under a specific combination of circumstances.
