TenneT plans gas generators and batteries for Flevoland grid
◆1 source
TenneT plans to use gas generators and batteries to relieve pressure on Flevoland’s electricity grid, starting in 2029 at the district heating plant in Almere. It is also investigating whether a similar solution could be used in Dronten, Lelystad and Zeewolde. The grid is reported to be full, with the greatest problems in Eastern and Southern Flevoland. Companies may have to wait until at least 2029 for new or additional connections, while some households face restrictions. The measures are intended to cover peak demand until the grid is expected to have sufficient capacity again in 2033. A battery in Almere is designed to supply power for four hours, after which a gas generator can take over; the gas turbine is intended to run on green fuel.
