Italian air traffic disruption caused by data-network malfunction

A malfunction in the Italian air-traffic-control data network disrupted air traffic in Italy. ENAV said an emergency system was in use but could not handle full flight capacity, so operations were reduced and flights were delayed. It said there was no cyberattack or sabotage and that work on a solution was under way.

Some flights scheduled to depart between 6:00 and 8:00 did not operate, according to a single report. Flights to and from Schiphol were also delayed, with arrivals from Rome, Naples and Milan up to two hours late.
