Taxi seizures during Amsterdam Dance Event checks

The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT), working with the Public Prosecution Service and several police teams, seized 16 taxis during checks connected to the Amsterdam Dance Event. Most of the vehicles were reportedly used by drivers who were not employed by a taxi operator and did not have a taxi permit.

Inspectors examined the taxis’ onboard-computer data to establish who had made journeys and whether records matched the actual operations. The ILT said such arrangements can make it harder to monitor who is driving and under what conditions, and can allow rules on permits and working and rest periods to be circumvented, posing risks to passengers, drivers and other road users.
