A tanker became adrift north of Schiermonnikoog after its anchor came loose. Five people aboard were reported injured, and rescue services were deployed to assist the vessel.

One report said the vessel, described there as a heavy cargo ship, nearly collided with two other ships. Another report said KNRM lifeboats from Eemshaven, Schiermonnikoog and Ameland, along with Coast Guard assets and German lifeboats, had been called out.
