Taiz remained surrounded by Houthi forces
◆1 source
Taiz in Yemen was reported to be completely surrounded by Houthi forces, with all supply routes closed and people and goods unable to enter or leave. The United Nations and international aid organisations could not reach the city, where fighting was reported to be intensifying and shelling, mortar fire, machine-gun fire and drones could be heard near residential areas.
Residents described shortages of food, drinking water, fuel and flour, as well as rising prices, accumulating waste and spreading disease. Schools and universities were closed, while a lack of diesel disrupted water supplies and hospital services. Some residents had fled, while others remained in the city and hoped that the roads would reopen and that the fighting would end.
