Supermarkets have introduced guarantees covering prices advertised on in-store discount boards or leaflets. Under the guarantee, customers can receive a product for free if the checkout price is incorrect, following pressure from the Consumers’ Association.

In tests, the Consumers’ Association found that customers had sometimes paid too much because discounts were not correctly applied at the checkout.
