The municipality of Almere, DUWO Foundation and Woningstichting GoedeStede have agreed on the development of student housing at Windesheim’s new campus on the Esplanade in Almere Centrum. Construction of about 600 homes could begin at the end of 2028, as part of a planned residential tower with around 1,250 student homes. The plans will be developed further, with neighbors and other interested parties involved. Construction of the campus began early this year. If the schedule is maintained, the first students are expected to be taught in the new Weerwater building in September 2028. The campus and housing plans had been uncertain for a long time, and local residents challenged the building permits.
